Personalized therapy that addresses your unique needs.

TOA Columbia: Where Motion Meets Wellness

Located downstairs from the Tennessee Orthopedic Alliance Columbia clinic is our Rehabilitation Department for Physical and Occupational Therapy. Our group of professional physical therapists work with you, the patient, to recover from surgery or injury. We offer state-of-the-art weight equipment, stationary bikes, free weights, and other tools necessary to help patients like you return to their full previous function level.

We also implement post-surgical exercises to ensure patients can meet their personal health objectives. Prior to beginning a therapy regimen, patients meet with one of our qualified, experienced therapists regarding specific goals and concerns. The source of your pain will be evaluated, and a highly specialized treatment plan will be developed with your goals in mind.

HydroWorx columbia

HydroWorx® RISE

One of the best benefits of including TOA Therapy in your rehabilitation plan is the use of our HydroWorx®  RISE Unit. HydroWorx is an industry leader in the area of aquatic therapy equipment. TOA Columbia is one of the very few facilities in the Middle Tennessee area to have this equipment on site. The freestanding unit is equipped with an underwater treadmill to enable patients with limited mobility the opportunity to rebuild their strength while improving ambulation.

While land weights can cause added stress and pain on an injured part of the body, aquatic therapy uses the water’s natural resistance to reduce forces on weight-bearing joints. The result is improved motion and flexibility when used in conjunction with a land-based therapy plan.

Is HydroWorx® RISE Right for You?

For a patient dealing with an ACL reconstruction or other total joint replacement, an aquatic therapy plan can have the patient in the RISE unit at four to six weeks post-surgery. Our therapists work with you to continue the seamless service started by the physicians in our office. In addition to a rehabilitation plan outlined by one of our TOA Columbia physical or occupational therapists, patients are also given home based exercises they can do on their own time.

Together with specialized on-site therapy, patients typically experience a faster return to post-injury function. It is important that patients follow the plan to ensure proper healing and reduce the likelihood of pain recurrence from their initial injury.
